Austin Vern Howell, age 64, died Monday, Jan. 16, 2012, at his home. He was born Jan. 19, 1947, the son of Olen Ray and Winnie Brewer Howell. He was a truck driver for C.J. Horner Co. and a baptist.
He was preceded in death by his father; and a grandson, David Austin Howell Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Minnie Howell; three sons, David Howell and his wife Lisa and Thomas Howell, all of Gurdon, and Ricky Howell and his wife Tammy of Clark County; one daughter, Rhonda Whittle and her husband Sherman of Arkadelphia; two brothers, Ray Howell of White Oak and Ronnie Howell and his wife Nancy of Arkadelphia; one sister, Azelia Ione Mayhue and her husband Jim of Arkadelphia; 11 grandchildren, Steven, Dusty, Blake, Chole, Ashley, Amanda, and Chris Howell, Cody, Kyle, Kimberly Whittle, and Courtney Maxwell; and one great -grandchild, Britley Maxwell, and several neices and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Thursday in the Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Alpine. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Brad and Jeremy Mayhue, Joey and Robert Howell, D.J. Ratliff, Brian Hutson and Tony Derry.
