Arkadelphia, Ark. -

Henderson State junior libero Bethany Wright was named First Team All-Gulf South Conference announced by the GSC office Wednesday.

Wright has earned All-Conference selection for the past three seasons including earning Freshman of the Year honors in 2006.

Wright had three of the five highest dig totals in a single game in the GSC this season and ranked fourth overall in the nation with 5.82 digs per set.

Wright, a Spanish Education Major from Georgetown, Texas, totaled 615 digs this season, placing her second in Henderson State history in total digs in a career with 2188. Wright should break the team record early next season, as she is only 64 digs shy of Melissa Trotter’s HSU record of 2252 set from 1994-97.

Wright was also chosen as the GSC West Division Defensive Player of the Week on Monday for the fourth time of the season.

Despite losses by the Lady Reddies in the team’s final two games of the season, Wright showed why she is one of the best liberos in the country with 35 digs against Harding and 19 digs in a three set match against Arkansas Tech.
