Badgers finish 3-0, take first

Badger baseball won the Bauxite FCA Invitational Tournament Saturday defeating Little Rock Pulaski Robinson 8-2. In the first rounds of play Arkadelphia beat Carlisle 11-1 and McCrory 7-0.

Badger pitcher Michael Forthman  earned the 11-1 win over Carlisle with two strikeouts, two hits, and one run.  Offensively, Arkadelphia was led by Garrett Rucker’s 3-3 with two RBIs; Will Wallace’s 3-3 with five RBIs; Craig Daniell’s 2-2 with one RBI; Cody Spradlin’s two RBIs; and Branson Beard’s two RBIs.

McCrory (the defending 2A champion) was defeated 7-0 with Daniell  pitching a complete shut-out win 14 strikeouts and only two hits.  Offensively, Rucker was 2-2 with one RBI; Craig Daniell was 2-3 with two RBIs; Cody Spradlin was 2-4 with two RBIs and a homerun.
During the championship game against Little Rock Pulaski Robinson, Rucker earned the 8-2 win pitching the complete game win 13 strikeouts and four hits. “We saw very good pitching and defense against an aggressive hitting team,” said Head Badger Coach Brant Matros of the Badger’s performance.

“Offensively, we only had six hits, but we hit the ball hard,” said Matros. Rhett Rogers and Beard each scored twice and Wallace added two RBIs.
