After the Arkadelphia Lady Badgers took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, Glen Rose came back to lead 3-2 and added a four-run fourth inning to take a 7-3 win at the Arkadelphia Youth Sports Park on Wednesday afternoon in a make-up blended conference game from Monday.
Arkadelphia struck in the first inning when Ashlyn Taylor singled to left field with two outs. Hannah Fennochi singled to center to move Taylor to third base. Taylor scored on a passed ball before the inning ended.
Glen Rose scored with two outs, as well. A single, a passed all and two errors allowed the Lady Beavers to tie the game 1-1.
With two outs in the bottom of the second inning Macey Green walked, but was left stranded at first base.
With one out in the top of the third inning, Glen Rose got back-to-back doubles and a sacrifice bunt combined with a single to right field put the Lady Beavers 3-1.
Taylor reached on a two-base error with one out in the bottom of the third inning for the Lady Badgers. Taylor used her speed to get to the plate on a ground out by Fennochi to make it a 3-2 game before the third out was caught in right field.
Glen Rose reached the bases on a single, an error, a run-scoring single, another error and a ground out. A walk and a third error by the Lady Badgers loaded the bases before a catch was made in right field to end the top half of the fourth with the Lady Beavers leading 7-2.
Sallie Matthews led off the bottom of the fourth with a double to the gap in right-center field. Onesha Steed singled to center field, but Glen Rose picked off a runner at second base, struck out another and caught a line drive at shortstop to end the Arkadelphia threat.
Fennochi singled to start the bottom of the sixth inning for Arkadelphia. After stealing second, a grounder moved her third base and Matthews walked. Steen singled to score Fennochi, but the Lady Badgers hit into two fielder’s choice plays to end the inning trailing Glen Rose 7-3.
After keeping the Lady Beavers off the scoreboard in the seventh inning, the Lady Badgers went down in order in the bottom half of the inning to end the game.
