PRESCOTT - Wednesday afternoon, the bats of the Arkadelphia Lady Badgers came alive in a 17-5 win over the host Prescott Lady Curly Wolves.
Arkadelphia scored 10 times in the top of the first inning.
Nia Nelson led off the game with a walk. She moved to second when Molly Daniell singled to left field. Ashlyn Taylor washout by a pitch to load the baseband Sallie Matthews singled to right field to score Nelson. Lyndi Porter was hit by a pitch that scored Daniell and Hannah Fenocchi singled to left field to score Taylor. Kamyrn Thorne was hit by a pitch and brought in Matthews and Macey Green walked to score Porter. With one out, Nelson hit into a fielder’s choice that got Fenocchi out at the plate, but Daniell walked to reload the bases. Taylor doubled to left-center field to bring in Green and Nelson. Daniell came in on a single to left field by Matthews that scored Daniell and Taylor.
Prescott threatened after having two ground outs to start the bottom of the first inning. A walk and an error put two runners on, but a fly ball to second base ended the inning.
Thorne led off the top of the second inning by reaching second base on an error by Prescott. She moved to third on a ground ball to second and Allie Harris was hit by a pitch. Nelson beat out a infield single that scored Thorne before two outs were recorded.
After the Lady Curly Wolves sat down in order in the bottom of the second inning on two fly balls to second base and a strike out, the Lady Badgers added another run in the top of the third inning. Porter singled up the middle with one out and moved to third when Fenocchi singled between second and third. Thorne drew a walk to load the bases and Porter scored on a ground out from Green to make it 12-0.
Prescott got its first hit of the game in the bottom of the third inning, but she was left stranded at second. Arkadelphia started off the top of the fourth inning with an interference call for an out. Daniell reached on an error and moved to second when Taylor singled to left field. Matthews reached on a fielder’s choice and a ground out ended the threat.
Prescott scored a run in the bottom of the fourth inning on a three singles and Thorne got the only hit for the Lady Badgers in the top of the fifth inning. That gave the Lady Curly Wolves an opportunity to extend the game and they did with two runs on two costly Arkadelphia errors. When the fifth was over, the Lady Badgers led 12-3.
Nelson led off the top of the sixth with a bunt-single. She stole second base and scored when Daniell singled to left-center field. Taylor hit into a fielder’s choice, but Matthews doubled to center field and Porter scored her on a single. Fenocchi doubled in Porter, but was tagged out trying to go to third base. Thorne singled to left field, stole second and moved to third on a passed ball. Another passed ball allowed Thorne to score to make it 17-3.
Prescott added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth on a walk, a base hit and an error by Arkadelphia.
