TEXARKANA - The Gurdon Lady Go-Devils had just won their first game of the season in the first round play-in game for the 7-3A district tournament held at Genoa Central on Monday night.
On Tuesday, the Lady Go-Devils had to turn around and face the host team Genoa Central Lady Dragons for a chance to go to the regional tournament.
Was there a second win for a chance to keep  playing for the Lady Go-Devils or did they use up all of their points against Horatio in their first win? On Tuesday night, Kira Accor, Daesha ivory, Antwonette Laster and Alisha Anna were the starters on the floor and battled the Lady Dragons hard in the first quarter.
Accor made a 3-pointer, Ivory put in two field goals and Laster put in two field goals for 11 points, but the Lady Go-Devils were just trying to hang close to Genoa Central, but missed five free throws. The Lady Dragons hit two 3-pointers in the first quarter to build an 18-11 lead.
Michaela Mayfield made two free throws and Accor put in a basket, but that was all of the Gurdon points in the second period. Genoa Central put up 12 points in the quarter to lead 30-15 at halftime.
An inspired Lady Go-Devils squad came out of the break with intentions on climbing back into the game. Keoyna Jones made a 3-pointer, Accor hit a field goal and a 3-pointer, Ivory put in a basket and Mayfield completed a three-point play and put in a basket. Gurdon scored 15 points in the third quarter to get to 30, but the Lady Dragons connected on nine field goals and a free throw to claim a 49-30 lead over the Lady Go-Devils.
Accor made two 3-pointers for Gurdon and Ivory made a field goal. Mayfield added a free throw for all nine of the Lady Go-Devils points in the fourth quarter. Genoa Central used a 20-9 fourth quarter to race away with a 69-39 win.
Accor led Gurdon with 16 points, Ivory and Mayfield finished with eight points each, Laster had four and Jones finished with three points. The Lady Go-Devils made 4 of 12 free throws in the game.
The Lady Go-Devils end their season with a record of 1-25.
