Recently the Clark County Community Foundation (CCCF) sent out an appeal for support from the community to help fund an $8000 challenge match from the Ross Foundation in order to build our operating endowment. While making contributions to an operating fund is not very appealing to most donors, it is one of the most important funds we have. Without it we cannot continue to grant funds to our local non-profit organizations. As an affiliate of the Arkansas Community Foundation, having an operating endowment that sufficiently supports the daily office needs is a requirement.
As a member of the CCCF Board I felt obligated to solicit funds for the Ross Foundation challenge. With great hesitation I sent an e-mail to my co-workers at Henderson State University and the response was terrific. I am very proud to report that a large percentage of the total individual contributions made to this challenge were made by the faculty and staff at Henderson. I cannot thank them enough for their support and for recognizing the importance of the Foundation for the future of Clark County.
We did meet the challenge thanks to everyone who contributed. I know the Arkadelphia Little Theatre made a generous contribution as well as many others. I just wanted to take a moment to publicly thank my friends at HSU. I am proud to be employed by such a wonderful, community-oriented institution and your support is very much appreciated.
