To the Editor:

I should have written this letter a week ago, but I used all my available time working on my income tax.

Last Saturday, I was delivering things to the Humane Society sale and helping out and I drove home. There I found nine young men working, some on the roof and others on the ground. It turned out they were from Tiger Serve. This organization has helped many people for years with no compensation except the pleasure of doing a good job for people who needed it.

They had helped me a few years ago and I thought about asking them again. However, it was Friday when I thought of it and I imagined it would be too late to schedule help for Saturday. Their goal was to get rid of pine straw from my many trees. They got the straw off the two-story roof by climbing up there. They got more straw off the back porch and around the yard. They filled 59 large garbage sacks with the straw. They were going to haul them to one of the boys’ farm property to get rid of it. I found two people that actually wanted it. They delivered 50 sacks to one of them that would put the straw around her flowers and kept nine sacks for Orwilda Hill, who works for me, to put in her hog pen.

I want to heartily thank the nine young men who did this great work, the person at Ouachita who generated it and perhaps God, who may have been the person behind it.
