SPARKMAN — George Clifford Tutt, 90, of Sparkman, passed from this life on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010, at Ouachita Medical Center in Camden. He was born on Feb. 9, 1920 in Camden, the son of the late Franklin and Carrie Melissa Carter Tutt. George worked as a foreman at a chemical plant in Memphis and was a member of Dalark Methodist Church. He was a World War II United States Army veteran serving with the 340th Engineers and helped to build the Alaskan highway. George was preceded in death by two sisters, Velma Tutt and Bessie Bradshaw and five brothers, Deward, John, Nolen, Roland and Jimmy Tutt.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby Marie Wilkins Tutt, of Sparkman; three daughters, Anne Mize of Sulphur, La., Susan Slayton of Collierville, Tenn., and Mary Tutt of Sparkman; one son, George David Tutt of Washington, Mo.; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010 at Welch Funeral Home with Bro. Bob Langley and Bro. Kevin Moss officiating. Interment will be in Delamar Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Dolvis Hearnsberger, Brent Walker, James Walker, Alfred Steward, Greg McMahon and Jimmy Dixon.
