Obituary Louise Davies

Mrs. Louise Gardner Davies, age 91, of Gurdon, passed away on Aug. 27, 2010, in Arkadelphia.
Mrs. Davies was born on Oct. 28, 1918, to Joe and Annie Cagle Gardner. She graduated from Okolona High School and Henderson-Brown College, now Henderson State University, in Arkadelphia. She taught business education at Gurdon High School for 35 years and began the Cooperative Office Education program at GHS. She also sponsored the school paper “The Devil Sheet” for many years. Mrs. Davies always made learning to type fun with races during timed writings. She was a member of Gurdon Presbyterian Church where she was an elder, Sunday School teacher and was instrumental in acquiring a new steeple for the church when the old one had to be taken down.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 52 years, George Davies, two brothers Lester and Vonherse Gardner and an infant daughter.
Her survivors include one son, Joe Kim Davies, of The Woodlands, Texas; two daughters, Linda Bullard and David of Gurdon and Karen Herbert and Jerry, Little Rock; three grandchildren, Chris Bullard and Cyndi of Jacksonville, N.C., and Aja Davies and Kyle Davies, both of The Woodland, Texas; three great-grandsons, Justin, Matthew and Clay Bullard, Jacksonville, N.C.; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Monday, Aug. 30, at Gurdon Presbyterian Church with Chaplain Jack Ryan officiating. Burial followed at Dobyville Cemetery. Arrangements by Brazzel/Cornish The Funeral Home, Prescott.
 In lieu of flowers, memorials made be made to Gurdon Presbyterian Church, c/o 204 Martha Court, Gurdon, Arkansas 71743.
