Marilyn Joan Taylor, 71, of El Dorado, died Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010, at her residence following brief illness.
Born May 17, 1938, in El Dorado, she was the daughter of Walter Amos and Nina Inez Swilley Francis. Marilyn's career began at age 19 at KELD radio selling advertisement and then she was employed at the El Dorado News-Times. She later became the advertising manager with Woolco and retired from Wal-Mart (formerly Woolco).
Marilyn was also a homemaker, and firmly believed in taking care of her family. She instilled those values in her children and grandchildren. She loved her family very much, and is greatly loved in return.
Preceding her in death along with her parents were a daughter, Verna Joanne Boothe and a sister, Linda Sue Francis.
Survivors include her husband, John Robert Taylor of El Dorado; daughters, Monica Boothe and Marilyn “Mickie” Watson, Damaris Maxfield and Morgan Maxfield all of El Dorado; and a step-daughter, Garbrille Curley of Nashville, Tenn.; a sister, Patricia Holcomb and her husband, Wayne of Arkadelphia; three brothers, Robert Francis and his wife Fran, Billy Francis and his wife, Jerri Gail all of Little Rock and Johnny Francis and his wife Jerry Lynn of Hot Springs; and seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010 in Bailey Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Monday at Bailey Funeral Home.
