Billy Joe (Joe Kid) Beard, 60, of Arkadelphia, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010, in St. Joseph Mercy Health Medical Center in Hot Springs. He was born July 24, 1949, in Arkadelphia (Mt. Morriah Community), son of Ernest and Lizzie Smith Beard.
He attended Mt. Morriah Elementary School and Peake High School and was a member of Mt. Morriah Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Paul Beard and his sister, Shirley Beard Evans.
He leaves to cherish his memories; a special friend, Brenda Bivens; three children, Anthony Beard of Malvern, Jeffery Beard of Conway and Brittany Beard of Columbus, Ohio; four brothers, Charles Beard and William Beard of Dallas, Texas, and Jerry Beard and Johnny Beard of Texarkana.
Mr. Beard will lie in state in the funeral home on Friday, 1-7 p.m.
The Service of Celebration will be held Saturday, Feb. 6 at 3 p.m. in Mt. Morriah Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. Vernon Moody Sr., is the pastor and Rev. J. L. Newborn will preach a message of comfort and hope.
The committal and final resting place will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Services provided by the staff at Williams Funeral Home, Inc.
Bearers of the Casket are David Avington Sr., Tracey Eason, Perry McCauley Jr., Rufus Newborn, William Newborn, Russell Smith, Troy Smith, and Andrea Tuggle.
