The Arkadelphia City Board of Directors meets today at 7 p.m. in the Town Hall Boardroom to consider a third reading of the 2009 budget ordinance and to consider additional pay for employees.

According to a memo included in the agenda packet, city staff is recommending rewarding employee’s “outstanding performance this year. It appears that as we near the end of the year that they have worked diligently to hold the expenses down.

The employees have a direct impact on the expenses of the city and a small token of appreciation in the amount of $150 seems appropriate. The average check after deductions is estimated to be about $135.”

The estimated cost of the compensation is less than $18,000, according to the memo.
It was also recommended to approve additional pay of $150 for each full-time employee, seasonal ground maintenance employees and each part-time employee that averages more than 20 hours per week.
