About a half dozen people are in custody today in the county jail after a drug task force and Arkansas State Police found several thousand dollars worth of what they believe to be illegal drugs in a rented minivan earlier this week.
According to information from Clark County Sheriff David Turner, a “drug interdiction team” began work in the county Sunday and continued their stay until Tuesday, ending up with a drug bust that confiscated about two pounds of “ice” crystal methamphetamine, a kilogram of cocaine and 400-600 pounds of marijuana.
Turner said that all the evidence has been turned into the state crime lab for verification. Also found in the mix was more than $42,000 in cash, Turner said.
Turner said the busts were made Monday and Tuesday during traffic stops on Interstate 30, and those who were arrested were arraigned Wednesday and are being held in the jail with a $500,000 bond each. The parties were traveling eastbound on the interstate.
According to an arrest log at the jail, state troopers arrested Jennifer Sue Lenda, 23, and Glen Ray Allen, 42, on Tuesday for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.
On Monday, troopers and sheriff’s deputies arrested Donald Everette Collier, 37; Michael Ray Snell, 31; Paul Thomas Odom, 43; and Portia Dianne McGuire, 22, for the same charges.
Turner said those arrested reside in Kentucky. He did not have further information available at presstime today.
