A Texas woman was killed and two injured Thursday in a one-vehicle accident on Interstate 30.
According to a report on the Arkansas State Police Web site, 18-year-old Rhianna L. Rutledge, of Arlington, Texas was killed. The report, filed by State Trooper Sam L. Hart, states that Rutledge was a passenger in the rear seat of a 2001 Acura, traveling eastbound on I-30 at the 59 milemarker. At 1:33 p.m., the driver of the vehicle lost control and veered right off the roadway, striking several trees. Rutledge was ejected from the car and pronounced dead at 2:35 p.m. at Baptist Medical Center-Arkadelphia by Clark County Coroner Tim Welch.
Two other passengers, Reginald L. Rutledge I and Reginald L. Rutledge II, were injured in the accident. Both were taken to BHMCA. Reginald I was wearing a seat belt, but Reginald II was not.
The driver of the vehicle, Rose Mary Rutledge, was not injured in the accident. She was wearing a seat belt.
According to the report, the weather condition was listed as rainy and the road was wet.
