A Hot Springs man reported the theft of $90 cash from his pants, which he laid on the on the bleachers at the recreation center to play basketball.
The manager of a fast food restaurant on West Pine Street reported that a woman came in to speak to an employee about personal business. After she told the two they should talk on their own time, the suspect left the building only to return moments later in a “tirade,” using “the F-bomb” several times toward the manager.
William Preston Pettis, 22, of Magnolia was issued citations for careless driving and endangering the welfare of a minor. The citations were issued after officer John Thomason heard Pettis squeal his tires as he turned onto W.P. Malone Drive from Pine Street. As Thomason conducted a traffic stop on Pettis at a car wash, he noticed there were three small children in the back seat of the car.
Wednesday, Dec. 16
Officer Woody Perry was dispatched to Lark Place in reference to a disturbance that had already occurred. He met with the complainant, an employee of a local car dealership who said he was in the process of repossessing from a resident when she apparently hit him in the head and sprayed him with mace. According to the woman, she had paid her car payment prior to the repossession of the vehicle.

A resident of the 1300 block of Wilson Street reported that a man made harassing phone calls to her and spread feces on the driver’s door handle of her vehicle.
The manager of Dollar General on Caddo Street called police after catching a woman she suspected had shoplifted from the store. The manager told officer Malissa Cleek upon her arrival that the suspected shoplifter (who was near the checkout lane) entered the store with a flat, empty purse; but when the suspect left the manager noticed the purse was thicker and fuller. She then confronted Preanna Jewell Hunter, 19, of 320 Dean St., Gurdon, and asked her to stay put until police arrival. Cleek noted in her report that she witnessed Hunter confess to taking the items — a bottle of perfume, three scarves and two wallets, worth $32 — and also watched her give back the items to the manager. Hunter was arrested for shoplifting and taken to the Clark County Jail, where she was booked and soon released.
A Powder Mill Apartments resident reported breaking and entering to his vehicle in the parking lot of the complex. The perpetrator stole his wife’s purse, which contained $150, debit cards and a food stamp card; and his Compaq laptop computer worth $500.
