1 killed, another hurt on icy I-30

Icy road conditions caused a two-vehicle accident early Monday morning on Interstate 30 in Clark County, killing an Iowa man and injuring a Texas man, according to a report filed by the Arkansas State Police.
The accident happened at 4:36 a.m. The report indicates that 47-year-old Chris Piper, a passenger in a 2009 Chevrolet van, was killed after the driver, Larry Bolding, 49, of Mesquite, Texas crossed a bridge on the eastbound lane near the 53 milemarker, where he hit some ice and lost control of the vehicle, making contact with the trailer of a 2007 Freightliner, which was parked with its hazard lights on the south shoulder.
According to the report, the driver of the Freighliner was assisting another vehicle that had run off the road.
Both men were wearing a seat belt. Bolding was taken to Baptist Health Medical Center-Arkadelphia and treated for injuries.
