Dressed to Kill

The apostle Paul was quick to recognize this truth in Ephesians 6:12: “This is not a wrestling match against a human opponent. We are wrestling with rulers, authorities, the powers who govern this world of darkness, and spiritual forces that control evil in the heavenly world.”
He knew very well that we would engage in spiritual warfare, therefore he affirms that our spiritual battles are constant with an enemy who is crafty and full of evil.
The enemy is masterful and cunning and will go to any measure to disarm us from our faith. He comes against us with different methods, and if one fails, he will try another. His schemes are attractive, deceptive, and ensnaring, and he’s readily to kill, steal and destroy.
You may ask, “How do we overcome such great enemy?” - A soldier wouldn’t think of going into war without proper training and protective gear.
In the same way, we need to equip ourselves with the full armor of God. In Ephesians 6:14-17, Paul describes six pieces of combat gear that we need in order to survive the attacks of the enemy. “Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguished all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”
My friend, the attacks will surely come, but don’t back down. When you are arrayed in God’s armor, you are “dressed to kill,” and there is no power in the universe that can withstand it!
