Arkadelphia High School student-athlete Jasmyn Gordon has quietly, yet consistently dominated in track and field throughout her high school career.
Gordon started running track in the seventh grade. Over the years, she has developed a natural competitiveness which helped propel her to have success as a varsity athlete.
The senior has won four district championships for the past four years in the 100 and 200-meter dash. Gordon was state runner up in the 100 and 200-meter dash last year and has qualified for this year’s Meet of Champs.
“When you win a few races, you have no one pushing you to do better but when I go to Meet of Champs, I know there are faster people than me but it’s also my motivation,” said Gordon.
The track and field all-star is planning on hanging up her cleats after the season to attend Henderson State University in the fall. She expects to major in innovative media and hopes to one day become a social media manager.
Gordon enjoys photography and wants to thank her friends, family and past coaches for helping her achieve her success on and off the track.
The Meet of Champs is Saturday, May 10 in Hot Springs.
