The Arkadelphia Area Chamber of Commerce will have its seventh annual Downtown Crawfest this weekend.

The Arkadelphia Area Chamber of Commerce will have its seventh annual Downtown Crawfest this weekend.
The event, presented by Southern Bancorp, will begin at 5:30 p.m. Friday with a crawfish boil Crawfish and the fixings will be prepared by Sodexo Catering and served in the parking lot at 617 Clinton Street in downtown Arkadelphia.
In addition to the crawfish boil, 67 Grill, Twisted Ice, The Farmhouse, JavaPrimo Coffee House, Cafe and More, and Slim and Shorty’s will be open offering food, dessert and drink options. The Zac Dunlap Band, sponsored by Southwest Auto Collection, will play throughout the evening.
At 7 p.m., contestants will participate in a crawfish eating contest. Each contestant will eat up to five pounds of crawfish within five minutes. There will also be a kid’s play zone sponsored by Gossip Shop Salon and Boutique filled with activities for the young and young at heart.
On Saturday, May 5, the Crawfish Crawl 5k and 10k will begin on Clinton Street at 8:30 a.m. along with the Southern Bancorp Andy Allison Super Kids Run at 10:30 a.m.
Advance tickets are $25 and are available now at Southern Bancorp, Winner’s Circle, and the Arkadelphia Area Chamber of Commerce office.
In the event of inclement weather, Friday night’s activities will be moved to the Arkadelphia Parks and Recreation Center, located at 2555 Twin Rivers Drive.
