Clark County law enforcement units in Clark County did their part for National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday.
Stationed at the courthouse, the Arkadelphia Police Department and the Clark County Sheriff’s Office received unused drugs from citizens looking to purge their medicine cabinets. In total, the departments collected 45 pounds of unused medications.
“I appreciate the citizens bringing unused prescription and nonprescription drugs Saturday,” said Watson. “With the help of our community, we were able to keep forty-five pounds of these types of items out of the hands of our citizens.”
APD Chief Jason “Shorty” Jackson reminded that although there is a select day for taking these medications back, they will accept them any time to avoid potential danger.
“We have the drop boxes available year-round,” Jackson said. “We enjoy partnering with the sheriff on the project every year.”
Post-collection, the drugs are stored and eventually taken to Hot Springs to be destroyed.
