With the deadline for 2018 county election registration ending last week, County Clerk Rhonda Cole has released a list of candidates.
For county judge, only Republican incumbent Troy Tucker is listed. Cole, the Democrat incumbent for county clerk, also is the only name listed for office.
There are three names registered for the four-year term of circuit clerk. They are Republican candidates Brian Daniel and Danielle Harral, and Democrat candidate LaShunna B. Hart. All are Arkadelphia residents.
Democrat incumbent Jason Watson of Amity is the only candidate for sheriff and collector.
Two Republican candidates have thrown in their names for county treasurer. They are Tina Martin of Okolona and Karen Arnold of Gurdon.
Arkadelphia Democrat candidate Tosha Horton is running for county assessor, as is Gurdon Republican candidate Lanna M. Clark.
Incumbent Tim Welch is the only candidate for county coroner.
For the first through third justice of the peace districts, incumbents Austin King, Democrat; Darin “Spud” Buscher, Republican and Vanilla Nelson Hannah, Democrat, are the only names in the running.
Three Democrats are vying for the fourth JP district, including incumbent Albert Neal. Doug Nelson and Llewellyn E. Terry Sr. both look to take that spot. All candidates reside in Arkadelphia.
Democratic incumbent Brown Hardman will face opposition from Republican David Rider for his JP District 5 position.
Republican incumbents Tom Calhoon, Gary “B.J. Johns, and Ricky Arnold are looking to respectively retain their sixth, eighth and eleventh district spots without opposition, as is Vickie Smithpeters in her ninth district seat.
Democrat incumbent Galen White, of District 10, will be running against Republican Shelly Craft.
George Hawthorn, Republican incumbent for Caddo Township Constable, is unopposed.
In terms of school elections, there are three on the ballot. Two are of the Arkadelphia School Board, as Paulette Blacknall is running for Zone 3 and Gina White is running for Zone 7. On the Gurdon School Board, Michael Dillard is running for Zone 11.
The Clark County Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, May 22.
