The Bismarck Lions senior boys basketball team had a setback to the Jessieville Lions and the Malvern Leopards this week.
Bismarck fell to Jessieville 77-70 Monday night on the road.
Bismarck trailed 18-8 at the end of the first quarter, before narrowing the margin by four to trail 34-30 at halftime.
After tying the game several times during the third quarter, Jessieville went on to take a 58-46 lead at the end of the period.
Bismarck trailed 72-64 with 1:04 remaining in the game. They were able to outscore Jessieville 6-5 during the last minute of the game.
In action Tuesday night, the Malvern Leopards defeated the Bismarck Lions 81-71 in Bismarck.
Malvern jumped out to a 25-11 lead at the end of the first quarter before building a 50-24 halftime cushion over the Lions.
Bismarck outscored Malvern 23-13 in the third quarter to trail the Leopards 63-47 at the beginning of the final period.
The Lions once again outscored the Leopards 24-18 during the final period of play, but it was not enough as Malvern held on for a 10-point victory.
Bismarck’s Jayden Howell led the way with 19 points, while Colton McMullen added 15, Dylan Clayton contributed 12 and Sawyer Hardage chipped in nine.
