Plans for the new Goza Middle School were discussed during a recent special session of the Arkadelphia Board of Education.
Prior to the special session on Nov. 7, a workshop was held in which Nabholz and French Architect were present to submit the final numbers for the project.
After the session began, the group unanimously approved the final bidding documents to construct Goza Middle School’s new building at a guaranteed maximum price of $15,370,243.
A construction date for the new school will be announced later.
Other items addressed:
• The board discussed a roof replacement for Arkadelphia High School. Following a recommendation by Dr. Donnie Whitten, superintendent of the Arkadelphia Public School District, approval was unanimously given to install a new roof. All Spec Roofing will handle the $38,400 project, which will cover 3,136 square footage at the high school.
• The board entertained a resignation/intent to retire of former Arkadelphia High School Girls Basketball Coach and Counselor Robert Rook. His departure reportedly took effect on Oct. 20.
