Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Homes encourages local families to donate their aged American flags and honor veterans as part of its “Retire Your Flag with Honor” program. When a flag is no longer worthy of display, Ruggles-Wilcox encourages families to bring it to the funeral home. For veterans who choose cremation, the funeral home then drapes the flag over the veteran’s casket at the time of cremation.
“Here at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home, every veteran who chooses cremation is cremated with a retired American flag,” explains Mike Wilcox. “This program honors the veteran and provides one last patriotic duty for your flag. We believe this is a fitting tribute for the courageous men and women who have served our country and a patriotic way to retire worn flags.”
As a Veteran’s Funeral Care (VFC) provider, the funeral home is certified as a specialist in all veteran programs and benefits. “We go above and beyond to honor veterans and their families with dignity, respect and compassion. They deserve it.”
“With Veterans Day coming up on this Saturday, November 11, we wanted to inform the community about this special program,” Wilcox says.
