Tosha Horton has officially announced for candidacy for the position of Clark County Assessor.
Horton issued the following statement:
“To the wonderful citizens of Clark County:
I am Tosha Horton, a lifelong resident of this great county and a 13-year employee of the Clark County Assessor's Office. With the spirit of change in the air, I was placed in a position to contemplate the future of our citizens and the office I've spent over a decade serving. After evaluating my skills and capabilities, I've decided to run for the office of Clark County Assessor!
The Assessor's Office greatly affects so many areas of county governance. This office's work makes a direct impact on our county; from the general budget to the financial support of our various school districts. It is important that the office runs efficiently and effectively. I have the experience to ensure that this continues.
National politics have given our "small-town" values a bad name. It's not about the "D” or the "R” behind the candidate's names as much as it's about “P” the PEOPLE and our service to them. I have a deep-rooted belief that all people should be treated fairly. The goal of the Assessor's Office is always fair and equitable property valuations. This won't change. Under my leadership, we will strive for transparency, and you can rest assure that no hidden agendas will come from the Assessor's Office.
In the weeks ahead, you will be hearing more from my campaign and about how you can get engaged. I look forward to meeting many of you and having the opportunity to gain your support.”
