On the heels of an impressive and important 44-26 victory over the Ashdown Panthers last week, the Arkadelphia Badgers have turned their focus to the Bauxite Miners.
The Badgers will be on the road Friday night to face to Miners, who fell 42-14 to Joe T. Robinson last week.
Arkadelphia head coach J.R. Eldridge noted that Bauxite will look much different from previous seasons.
“They are going to look more like Cabot or Pottsville,” said Eldridge.
According to Eldridge, Bauxite is expected to keep the ball more on offense and away from Arkadelphia.
“They are going to try to have an 18-play drive that takes up the entire quarter and not allow our offense to have any chance to get the ball,” Eldridge said.
In addition, Eldridge expects the Miners to kick an on-side kick just about every time.
“We are going to try to make sure that they don’t have a drive over six plays,” said Eldridge.
Defensively, Eldridge expects Bauxite to run a 3-4 defense, which is similar to that of Mena and Nashville.
“They bring some pressure to try to get the ball back. They are a different Bauxite team. They are gritty and they are going to get after it and we have got to be prepared for that challenge,” Eldridge said.
Kickoff from Bauxite is scheduled for 7 p.m. Those who will not be able to attend the game can tune in to 106.9.
