Members of the Clark County Quorum Court heard reports from their budget and personnel committees during their monthly meeting Monday.
According to Tom Calhoon, chairman of the Quorum Court’s Budget Committee, the committee is not looking at granting salary increases for county employees for 2018.
During the committee’s meeting on Sept. 29, members agreed to ask each department head and elected official to look at a possible five-percent reduction to their budget.
“We weren’t making them do it, we were asking them to volunteer to do it,” said Justice Tom Calhoon.
County officials have been asked to resubmit their possible reductions to their budgets by Nov. 3. The county treasurer has also been asked to submit a list of the county’s projected income by Nov. 3 as well.
It was reported that the Quorum Court’s Personnel Committee had recently met to review salaries.
Like the budget committee, the personnel committee also rejected the idea of salary increases for 2018.
