After coming off of a 70-7 victory over the Fountain Lake Cobras last Friday, the Arkadelphia Badgers are preparing for a competitive conference game against the Mena Bearcats on the road Friday night.
Arkadelphia will take an overall record of 5-1 and a conference record of 2-1 on the road with them Polk County to face Mena who will bring an overall record of 3-3 and a conference record of 0-3 into the contest.
According to Eldridge, the Bearcats will be looking to pick up their first conference win during homecoming at the expense of the Badgers.
“Mena hasn’t changed much in the last four years. They have the same head coach and they are always well coached,” Eldridge said.
Eldridge described Mena as one of the most “scrappiest” teams in the conference.
“They are always going to play hard,” Eldridge said.
Offensively, Eldridge believers the Bearcats will play similar to the Badgers in that they will run a spread offense.
Defensively, Eldridge expects Mena to play a mixture of a 4-2-5 and a 3-3 stack.
“The biggest thing about Mena is that they play hard and they will definitely be up for us. We’ve got to be prepared and I think our guys have come out, up to this point, and had a great week of practice,” said Eldridge.
Kickoff from Mena is at 7 p.m.
