After coming off of a 56-0 thrashing of the Sheridan Yellowjackets last Friday, the Arkadelphia Badgers will have their home openers this week against the Hot Springs Trojans.
According to head coach J.R. Eldridge, Hot Springs generally looks the same each season.
“They’ve got great offensive linemen, they’ve got a great defensive coordinator, they’ve got skilled guys who can really run,” said Eldridge.
In addition, Hot Springs generally plays a lot of its players on both sides of the ball.
Offensively, the Trojans are about 70 percent running.
“You’ll see them trying to establish their run game on offense. They’ll throw some play action passes and they’ll run some reverses in there a little bit as well,” said Eldridge.
Defensively, Eldridge said the Trojans look like Sheridan.
“They are going to be in a 4-3 and they have really athletic guys at linebacker and in their defensive skill position,” Eldridge said.
Turning his attention to special teams, Eldridge said the Trojans have a good punter who can move the ball.
“Hopefully we can set up a good return there. I’m excited about the challenge that they present and excited about getting at it Friday night,” said Eldridge.
Kickoff from Badger Stadium is at 7 p.m.
