Tuesday’s meeting of the Arkadelphia City Board of Directors was over before it started.
The meeting was immediately adjourned by Arkadelphia Mayor James Calhoun due to the lack of a quorum.
Ward 2 Director Mark Overturf and Ward 5 Director Jason Jones joined Calhoun for the meeting.
The board was scheduled to consider an appointment of a city treasurer and a city clerk.
In addition, an appointment to the Arkadelphia Housing Authority and the city’s five mill tax ordinance was scheduled to come before the board for consideration.
Directors will have their annual board retreat from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Dawson Cooperative.
The agenda consists of a discussion of the city’s current conditions and future objectives. The cleanliness of the city, zoning, drainage and other items will be addressed.
In addition, directors will discuss sanitation measures, entertain a working lunch and a report from the Arkadelphia Regional Economic Development Alliance and engage in an administrative dialogue. The city’s budget for 2018 will conclude the retreat.
