Paula Mae Gaedecke was born on October 11, 1928 and passed away on July 1, 2017.
She was married to Arther Gaedecke for thirty-five years. He preceded her in death in May 2015. Paula was also preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Edna Swank, and her brother, Maurice (Buck) Swank.
Paula had three children, one "adopted in her heart" daughter and two step-children. Daughter, Cheri Euly and husband, Vern, of Coosbay, Oregon have three children, Sirrie, Butch and Cody. Daughter, Linda Carmichael and husband, Don, of Oceanside, Calif. have two children, Gina and Douglas. Their son, Micheal O'Donnel, preceded Paula in death. Paula's adopted daughter, Cathy Chunn and husband, Robert, of Okolona cared for her and Arthur the last thirteen years of their life. Step-son, John Gaedecke and wife, Debbie, of Riddle, Oregon have two children, Candi Gaedecke and Michael Gaedecke. Step-daughter, Ester Gaedecke, lives in Myrtle Creek, Oregon. Paula and Arthur had many great-grandchildren and adopted grandchildren that loved them dearly. Paula is also survived by a nephew, Randy Swank, whom she loved like a son, and wife, Susan of Oregon, and a niece, Laska Golden.
Paula lived life in a big way! She was a pilot and a 4H leader. Paula also started the Douglas County mounted sheriff posse in Oregon. She was an avid horseback rider. Paula was a volunteer EMT Class 5 on the ambulance crew for thirteen years. She was an artist and loved deep sea fishing. Paula was a Jehovah's Witness for thirty-five years.
The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers that helped Cathy Chunn care for Paula at home. Kelly, Polly and Griffin, we love you!
We all loved Paula and will miss her!
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Caddo Valley with Mark Thoeny officiating.
