The annual Cruisin’ In The Park event is on tap for this weekend in Arkadelphia.
According to Derek Phillips, Community and Special Events Coordinator with the City of Arkadelphia, events are scheduled to take place at the Arkadelphia Recreation Center, Feaster Park and Youth Sports Complex.
Events will begin Friday with the checking in of barbecue teams at Feaster Park. The Cal Ripkin Baseball Regional Tournament for five and six-year-olds will also be featured, along with a plethora of activities and games for children.
The movie “Sing” will be shown at dark at the Arkadelphia Youth Sports Complex.
Registration for Saturday's Kid’s Fishing Derby will begin at 7 a.m. with the derby beginning at 8 a.m. at the pond at the Arkadelphia Youth Sports Complex.
The Fishing Derby is free to children ages five to 15. The winner will receive a flat bottom boat from Alumacraft.
The barbecue competition will be held from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Feaster Park.
According to Phillips, there is a $100 entry fee for the barbecue competition. Cookers must provide their own meat, grill, charcoal and other necessities. They will be judged in the divisions of chicken, ribs and beef brisket. Judges are needed for the barbecue competition.
A variety of family activities and vendors will be on site at Feaster Park.
A car and motorcycle show will begin at 9 a.m. at the Arkadelphia Youth Sports Complex.
