The Arkadelphia Police Department will be participating in the State July 4th DWI Mobilization between June 30 and July 4.
"We will be conducting saturations during this time frame throughout the city. Our goal is to keep intoxicated people off the streets of Arkadelphia during this holiday season," said Cpl. Joseph Paull of the Arkadelphia Police Department.
According to Paull, extra units will patrol the city. Their sole focus is to find and arrest intoxicated drivers, who choose to jeopardize the safety of the community by driving under the influence of any intoxicant, illegal drug, or prescription narcotic.
"We will not tolerate driving under the influence of any intoxicant and ask each of you to do the same. Remember, there is no excuse for driving under the influence - Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over," said Paull.
Paull stated it is never okay to drive of the influence.
"Even if you’ve had one alcoholic beverage, or taken one prescription pill, always have a designated driver or place to use public transportation," said Paull.
Citizens are encouraged to contact the Arkadelphia Police Department at (870) 246-4545 if they witness an intoxicated driver on the road.
"If you know a friend who is about to drive under the influence, take the keys away and make arrangements to get your friend home safely. Their life and others matter," said Paull.
