A plea agreement has been reached for a man accused of trashing an apartment and misdemeanor assault.
Courtney Reed, 30, of Arkadelphia allegedly caused monetary damages exceeding $1,500 to the apartment of a female acquaintance during her absence from the home. When interviewed by authorities, the woman revealed text messages indicating the defendant’s culpability in which he informed her to, according to the case’s affidavit, “have fun cleaning up her apartment.”
The woman stated that her apartment had been fine before she left. However, upon her return with a female friend, they were confronted by the awaiting Reed.
After exiting the apartment, Reed broke a vehicle passenger window trying to get to the woman, who had sought safety inside. In the process, he struck her friend twice in the face.
Reed was later charged for first-degree criminal mischief, second-degree battery and both misdemeanor second-degree criminal mischief and second-degree assault. He recently entered a plea agreement and in return received 72 months in the Arkansas Department of Corrections with 24 months suspended for felony mischief and 54 months in the ADC with 12 suspended for felony battery.
For the misdemeanors, he received three months in the county jail.
