Arkadelphia residents can expect to receive their vouchers for their trash and recycling bags this week.
According to Aaron Bopp, sanitation superintendent with the city of Arkadelphia, the vouchers were mailed last week and should have arrived in area mailboxes this week.
The bags will be available be available for pickup from beginning Monday, June 26 and ending on Friday, June 30 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Arkadelphia Parks and Recreation Center.
Residents will be able to drive up at the tent located between the rec building and the water park to redeem vouchers.Citizens will now receive 150 bags via the voucher exchange in two yearly distributions instead of three. 100 bags will be black trash bags, while 50 bags will be clear recycle bags per year.
According to Bopp, 50 black trash bags will be distributed per redemption, while 25 clear recycle bags will be dispersed per redemption.
Recycle bags with trash in them will not be picked up. Residents are encouraged to recycle their mixed paper and aluminum cans. Mixed paper is defined as clean junk mail, newspaper, office paper, cereal box type of pasteboard and cardboard. Pizza boxes are accepted, but they must be free of food and heavy grease. Recycle trucks run on the Thursday and Friday of one's regular trash pick up.
For the safety of sanitation employees, bags left in an open state and not tied will not be picked up.
Residents who are unable to redeem vouchers during the week of distribution can report to Hardman Lumber or the Arkadelphia Water Office beginning Monday, July 3 to retrieve their bags. Bags will also be available for sale with black trash bags for $8 per roll and clear recycle bags for $5 per roll.
Residents who may have questions may call the sanitation office at (870) 246-1803 and are urged to leave their name, phone number, address and concerns if no one answers.
Residents who live in apartments are encouraged to contact their apartment manager if they have not seen vouchers by the end of the week.
