An inmate at the Clark County jail has been charged for an altercation with a detention officer.
While the officer was working in the jail’s C Block, he instructed inmate Deandre Malik Gray, 20, to obey the rules, an order that Gray responded to by challenging him verbally.
Several commands were given for Gray to return to his cell but instead of complying, the inmate became pugnacious and, as the case’s affidavit describes, “a physical altercation began between the two.”
Gray is alleged to have grabbed the jailer and tried shoving him into the cell, causing minor scratches on the latter’s hands and arms. With the help of two other inmates, the officer was able to place Gray into the cell.
Gray has been charged with second-degree battery and impairing the operation of a vital public facility.
