A retirement reception has been scheduled to celebrate the service and career of Arkadelphia Police Chief Al Harris.

A retirement reception has been scheduled to celebrate the service and career of Arkadelphia Police Chief Al Harris.
The reception will be held on Friday, March 31, Harris’ last day after 17 years on the job. Food, which is being handled by Sodexo, will be served and there will be speakers during the event.
Harris’ retirement was officially announced during the Feb. 7 meeting of the Arkadelphia Board of Directors.Patterson Federal Credit Union is sponsoring the event, with the Arkadelphia Area Chamber of Commerce helping to coordinate.
“Patterson Federal Credit Union is honored to sponsor Chief Harris’ retirement reception,” said Nicole McGough, vice president of business development. “We are appreciative of his hard work and dedication to Arkadelphia. We wish him congratulations on his retirement and we hope he knows how much he will be missed.”
City Clerk Rendi Currey revealed that a large crowd is expected to honor Harris.
The reception will be at the Arkadelphia Parks and Recreation Center’s gym floor from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
