Members of the Arkadelphia City Board of Directors are expected to review job postings and hiring practices for employment with the city during their meeting tonight.
During the board’s last meeting, Assistant Mayor Dick Rudolph requested a discussion regarding the issue for tonight’s meeting.
According to a memo submitted by Rudolph, points of discussion will include background checks for all applicants, the rehiring of retired employees with the city and the advertisement of vacant positions.
Other items to be addressed:
• Shelley Loe of the Arkadelpia Alliance and Area Chamber of Commerce will present a report to the board touting the chamber’s activities for the year.
• Directors will consider a five-mil tax ordinance. The yearly ordinance is adopted by the board and presented to the Clark County Quorum Court to insure the city receives its portion of the real and personal property taxes due. This is not a new tax.
• An airport electrical vault construction grant will be considered.
• Board members will address the process for advertising for a new city manager.
Acting City Manager Brenda Gills will present her report, followed by future agenda items and routine business.

The meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the boardroom of Arkadelphia Town Hall.
