Arkadelphia Police Department

Saturday, Oct. 31

Police were dispatched to Walmart after the loss prevention officer reported an intoxicated shoplifter drove off in a blue pickup truck and fled north on W.P. Malone Drive. The manager of the store said the man, later identified as 20-year-old James T. Rascoe, of 2 Buck Lane, took a 10-pound bag of potatoes worth $2.50. Cpl. Robert Jones found the vehicle unoccupied in a ditch near Country Club Road, with the sack of potatoes in the passenger side. Officer Marcus Jones located Rascoe near Country Club Villa Apartments. When he saw Jones he apparently tried to open doors to two apartments before he was apprehended and charged with public intoxication and shoplifting.

Friday, Oct. 30

Police received a 911 call from a fraternity house on North 12th Street in reference to a fight that had occurred. The fight apparently stemmed from an argument over a list of names invited to a closed party. The suspect, the president of another fraternity, asked for the list and, after getting it, wadded it up and threw it down. After he and other members of the fraternity were asked to leave, they began “swinging and punching at everyone.”
