A Sparkman man called Arkadelphia police Saturday evening to report being threatened by a man in a parking lot on Pine Street.
The 31-year-old Sparkman man called police at 5:24 p.m. to request an officer. Two minutes later, Officer Malissa Cleek met with the man.
According to Cleek’s report, the man told her that, earlier in the day, his 9-year-old daughter called him and said that the listed suspect in the case broke her mother’s finger.
The Sparkman man said he walked across the street from the parking lot to another store on Pine Street to “have words” with the suspect, whose address is in Cox Trailer Park. As he was walking back to the parking lot, the suspect pulled his white Dodge Ram into the intersection of 27th and Pine and allegedly pulled out a chrome revolver, firing one shot into the ground.
Cleek noted in the report that she heard a gunshot 5-10 minutes prior to receiving the phone call, and that the shot “could have come from that vicinity.”
She contacted Sgt. Don Cleek and gave him suspect’s address. Don Cleek and officer Ronnie Land went there and found an unoccupied Dodge Ram. They knocked on the door and announced themselves, but no one answered.
Sgt. Pete Dixon, criminal investigator, said Tuesday that the man who allegedly fired the revolver will probably not be apprehended because of a lack of physical evidence, as there was no damage to the ground where the gun was reportedly fire. “Even a small caliber pistol” would leave damage, he said. No shell casings were found at the scene.
“Within minutes” of the incident, Don Cleek searched the suspect’s vehicle, which was left unlocked at the man’s residence, and found no signs of a gun or evidence of a gun being shot.
