The Arkadelphia City Board of Directors will meet Thursday in the Town Hall Boardroom to consider an amendment to a recently approved bid for 10 digital in-car video systems; consider a vacancy on the city’s water and sewer committee and consider the dispatching contract the city currently has with the City of Caddo Valley.
According to a memo from City Manager Jimmy Bolt included in the board packet, after reviewing the bid for 10 digital police car video systems to be installed in the city’s new fleet of hybrid police cars, it was discovered that state sales tax was not included in the original $47,528 price tag. The additional price of $4,453, which will bring the total to $51,982, must be added before the city makes the purchase.
The lowest bid was awarded to Kustom Signals. The next lowest bidder was WatchGuard Video at $65,295.
In appointing a new member to the water and sewer committee, Dr. James Ford’s position on the committee has expired. Dr. Vernon Miles, who serves as Henderson State’s provost, “has expressed an interest in the position ... and would be an excellent addition to the committee.” Bolt’s nomination, if passed by directors, will have a term expiring Feb. 17, 2014.
Directors met in September for an annual Board Retreat to discuss a variety of topics, one of which was continuing services to Caddo Valley. The city currently charges Caddo Valley $14,000 per year for dispatching services. According to a memo, Arkadelphia Police Chief Al Harris is requesting the board to enter into an agreement to provide dispatch service for the Caddo Valley Police Department.
If approved by directors, the proposed fee of $25,000 will become effective in 2010, and the contract would be evaluated by Harris in October “with the anticipation of continuation in the future.”
Bolt wrote in the memo: “I have negotiated this contract with (Caddo Valley Mayor Alan Dillavou) and I anticipate him presenting the contract to his council for approval this month.”
