The Bismarck Lady Lions had a rough series of games in the Debra McMaster Scholarship Softball Tournament this past weekend, falling in the first round to Woodlawn and in the second round to Magnet Cove before defeating Fountain Lake.
Woodlawn 10, Bismarck 0
The Lady Lions struggled in the opening round of the tournament, as Woodlawn took the win.
Woodlawn put up five in the fourth and five in the fifth to earn the win.
Logan Jenkins was two-for-three with a pair of singles, and Jimmilee Smith was two-for-two with two singles.
Taylor Olcott was one-for-two with a single.
Smith pitched all five innings, giving up 10 runs off six hits and six walks. She struck out one batter.
Magnet Cove 11, Bismarck 6
The loss pitted the Lady Lions against the Magnet Cove Lady Panthers in the consolation bracket.
The Lady Lions were able to score three in the top of the first inning, and their Hot Spring County foe put up one in the bottom for a 3-1 Bismarck lead.
Bismarck added one in the top of the third, but Magnet Cove went on a six-run spree, taking a 7-4 lead.
The Lady Lions were able to add two in the top of the fourth to cut the Lady Panthers’ lead to 7-6, but Magnet Cove was able to add four in the bottom of the inning to secure the win.
Jenkins had two singles, a stolen base and two runs, and Olcott had a single, a double, a stolen base and two runs.
Chelsi Orsburn had one scored run, Smith had a double, two RBIs and a run, and Keyton Goza had a single with two RBIs.
Allison Ledford had a single and one RBI, and Kaitlyn Burrow had one RBI.
Smith pitched three and two-third innings, giving up four hits and six walks while striking out one.
Goza pitched the final third of an inning, giving up only one hit.
Bismarck 24, Fountain Lake 4
The Lady Lions dominated their final game of the tournament, defeating the Fountain Lake Lady Cobras easily.
The Lady Lions were able to take a 15-1 lead in the opening inning before scoring nine in the second and third while giving up only three more to set the final.
Jenkins had a single, a stolen base and two runs, and Orsburn had two singles, two stolen bases, two RBIs and two runs.
Olcott had two singles, a stolen base, two runs and an RBI, and Smith had a triple, three RBIs and two runs.
Goza had a single, three runs, a stolen base and one RBI, and Ledford had a double and a home run with three RBIs and two scores.
Kass Chandler had two singles, two RBIs and three runs, one of which was stolen.
Burrow had a stolen base and a run, and Tiffany Campbell had a single, a stolen base, an RBI and two runs.
Samantha Fendley had a double, two RBIs and two runs, and Cheyenne Massey had a single and two RBIs.
Brooke Jones had a run, Shelby Dixon had a single, a stolen base, two RBIs and a run and Shawnee Shepherd had a stolen base and a run.
Goza pitched all three innings, giving up two hits and five walks while doling out two strikeouts.
The Lady Lions will be back in action Tuesday, April 1, as they host the Fouke Lady Panthers. Opening pitch is set for 4:30 p.m.
