The Arkadelphia Badgers edged the Genoa Central Dragons Friday afternoon at Sturgis Field.

The Arkadelphia Badgers were able to take a 4-3 win over the Genoa Central Dragons Friday afternoon at Sturgis Field.

The Badgers were the first to score in the game, but it took until the bottom of the third inning to put a runner across the plate.

With one out, Kris Oliver hit a single, and he took second on a pitching error before John Franklin Matros singled him in for the 1-0 run.

The Dragons responded, scoring a run of their own in the top of the fourth inning to tie the game.

Genoa then scored two more in the top of the fifth to take a 3-1 lead over the Badgers.

In the bottom of the inning, Cutter Jester was walked with one out, and with two outs, Ty Kosters hit a home run to tie the game again.

The score remained unchanged until the bottom of the eighth inning.

Jake Knight was walked to lead off the inning, and Bailey Goza was called in to run for him.

With two outs, Goza stole second and took third on a wild pitch.

Matros then hit an RBI single to left field to send Goza home for the winning run.

J.F. Matros pitched four innings for the Badgers, giving up three unearned runs off four hits and one walk. He struck out five.

Cameron Brashears pitched one inning, giving up one hit and striking out two.

Brandon Matros earned the win for the Badgers, pitching three innings. He allowed two hits and one walk in his time on the mound.

The Badgers move to 8-2 with the win.

The team will be back in action Thursday in the Central Arkansas Invitational. They will face off against Russellville at 2:30 p.m. in Benton.
