The Ouachita Warriors were able to easily defeat the Bismarck Lions in the second round of the Herb Russell Classic Friday.

The Ouachita Warriors dominated the Bismarck Lions Friday afternoon in the second game of the Herb Russell Memorial Tournament.

The Warriors got on the scoreboard first, picking up seven runs in the bottom of the second.

Nick Spurlin led off with a single, and Andy Swaim was walked.

Zack Ware then reached on an error that sent Spurlin home.

With one out, Hunter McDade was walked to load the bases, and Logan Huneycutt hit a three RBI double to send Swaim, Ware and McDade across the plate.

With two outs, Alex Volz was beaned before a single by Gavin Alston sent Huneycutt home.

Volz made his way home on an error, and Alston was sent home on a single by Nick Spurlin for the 7-0 lead.

The score remained unchanged until the bottom of the fourth.

Dalton Smith led off with a single, and with one out, Alston hit a single.

Spurlin then reached on an error that allowed Smith to score, and with two outs, Ware reached on an error that sent Alston and Spurlin home for the 10-0 lead.

The Warriors then kept the Lions scoreless for the win.

Swaim picked up the win for the Warriors, giving up three hits and one walk in his five innings on the mound. He struck out eight.

Trent Smith picked up the loss for the Lions, pitching three and one-third innings. He gave up four earned and four unearned runs off six hits and five walks while striking out one.

Blake Hughes finished the game for the Lions, pitching two-thirds of an inning. He gave up two unearned runs off one hit while striking out one.

The Lions will be back in action Friday as they host Poyen at 4:30 p.m.

The Warriors will be off until Saturday when they take part in the Bismarck Jamboree.
