The Bismarck junior Lady Lions could not overcome a first half deficit as they fell to the Lady Dragons of Genoa Friday night on the road.

Genoa jumped out early, taking a 9-4 lead in the opening period before stretching the lead to 24-11 at the half.

After the break, the Lady Lions tried to rally, but the Lady Dragons held them to seven in the third while adding seven of their own for a 31-18 spread with six minutes remaining.

The Lady Lions won the final period, but it was not enough as they fell 38-26.

Sierra Schwartz led the Lady Lions with eight points, hitting two treys.

Haley Vincent had seven points, and Carlye Norris and Samantha Fendley each added three.

McKenzie Efird and Kayla Ventress put up two apiece, and McKenzie Wesson had one.

The Lady Lions will be back in action Friday night as they travel to Fouke to face the Lady Panthers. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
