  • The Arkadelphia Lady Badgers were fortunate Friday night as a three-point shot at the buzzer did not fall in, allowing them to defeat the Nashville Scrapperettes 32-31 at Badger Gymnasium.
The Lady Badgers were up by one after Chasity Burris sank one of her two free throws with just seconds to go, and a heave from the baseline was taken to just outside the arc for a three-pointer that would have given Nashville the two-point win.
The shot bounced off the front of the rim as the buzzer sounded, however, to secure the Lady Badger win.
The Lady Badgers led in the opening quarter, 9-5, but despite doubling their score in the second, Nashville was able to come back and take a 20-18 lead at the break.
The Lady Badgers cut their deficit to one point in the third as they trailed 24-23 before scoring nine in the fourth to set the final.
Angelique Robinson led the Lady Badgers with 17 points. She had five rebounds, four assists and two steals.
Brenna Smith had six points. Kelsey Kobe had 10 rebounds and six blocked shots.
Chasity Burris grabbed five boards, and Amarya Jones grabbed seven.
"We out-rebounded them 31-26," said head coach Lynn Rook. "The real difference in the game was free throws. We made 12-of-19, and they hit one-of-12."
The Lady Badgers will be back in action tonight as they face the Pulaski Robinson Lady Senators. Tip-off will follow a Junior Varsity game.
