The Gurdon Go-Devils picked up a big win Friday night, handily defeating the Mineral Springs Hornets by 18, 58-40.

The Devils took control early, putting up 18 while allowing eight by the Hornets in the opening quarter, but Mineral Springs came back in the second to cut their deficit by two, 30-22.

After the break, the Devils again took control of the game, putting up 14 while allowing 10 to stretch their lead to 44-32.

The final eight minutes saw the Devils add 14 while Mineral Springs was only able to manage eight to set the final.

Adam Cooper led the Devils with 18 points on the night.

Austin Kirkpatrick and Alunzo Leeper had nine each, and Jalen Sproles added six.

Brandon Beals put up five, and Cameron Mayhue and Dewayne Marlow had four each.

Chris Accor shot for two, and Naja Hawthorne rounded out the scoring with one.

The Devils hit 10 of their 18 shots from the free throw line for 56 percent efficiency.

"We didn't play well in the second quarter," said head coach David Davis. "We started to let them get back into it. We have to put up big numbers in order to win."

The Devils take to the court again tonight as they travel to Prescott to face the Curley Wolves.
