Former President Bill Clinton informed Hope 13-year old Nate Carter via video here Sunday that he was one of five winners of a Super Bowl trip in the NFL “Together, We Make Football” Contest.
The room at Tailgater's Restaurant in downtown Hope exploded into cheers as Clinton capped the short monologue by telling Nate and his parents, Anthony and Bitsy Carter, that, “I also have a little news for you. Nate Carter, you won.”
The video presentation made the award by NFL Films official as Matt Dissinger, NFL Films feature producer, presented Nate and his parents with three Super Bowl tickets.
“There are no words for it,” Nate said after the announcement. “Right now, I'm thinking about going to the Super Bowl with my Mom and Dad and having an amazing time.”
Nate's mother, a Hope native and local florist, was effusive with thanks.
“I'm absolutely overwhelmed,” Mrs. Carter said. “I'm so proud to see the complete turnaround that he has had and that people are appreciative of his story, and I couldn't be more thankful right now for the people of Hope, because I know they really pulled this one out for our boy.”
