The Bismarck Junior Lions battled from behind in the fourth quarter, but the deficit was too much as they fell to Centerpoint Tuesday night, 38-25.

The Lions put up only two points in the opening quarter while allowing 10 for the Knights.

Centerpoint added 12 in the second while giving up six to stretch their lead to 22-8 over the Lions at the half.

After the break, the Lions were still unable to get things going, putting up four while Centerpoint put up eight for a 30-12 lead with six minutes to go.

The Lions took control in the final period, outscoring the Knights 13-8, but it was not enough to overcome the deficit.

Austin Hughes led the junior Lions with eight points, and Brady DePriest put up six.

Angel Ramos-Garcia had three, and Jayden Howell, Christian Rios, Zach Webb and Gunner Calhoun each added two.

The Lions struggled from the free throw line, hitting two of nine for 22 percent efficiency.

The Lions will be back in action on Thursday as they travel to Poyen to face the Indians. Tip-off will follow the 6 p.m. junior girls game.
